Title | Taxes - Percents Activity |
Brief description | Students calculate the flat tax, modified tax, and progressive tax needed to collect enough income. |
Purpose | Wrap up of topic; Contextual application |
Topic(s) | Percent applications; Solving percent problems |
Type of activity | Student, either individual or group |
Where work is done | In class |
Time required | Longer |
Technology needed | None needed (i.e. technology optional) |
Suggestions for implementation | My first version did not include part 7, and students weren't considering discretionary income when comparing fairness, so I added it. Haven't tested this part yet. Students had a lot of difficulty with part 1, so might need some help getting started. |
